Nepal Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) is a national alpine association of Nepal and has categorized the mountains of Nepal into expedition and trekking peaks. Peaks above 7,000 m are categorized as expedition peaks that demand much higher permit fees and more mountaineering technical skills. As per NMA, a trekking peak is a mountain under 7,000 metres which is considered climbable by anyone with a moderate amount of mountaineering experience and skills. While some can be climbed without crampons or an ice axe, most require use of this equipment. Trekking peaks offer a great potential adventure and exploration.
